i have been thinking about God's calling lately. a lot. what does it mean to be called to do something? how do we know if it is God calling us to do it? sometimes it is very clear when a door opens or closes, but many times, our situations can be very blurry & we have to truly seek God for answers. since i lost my job, everyday i ask myself & God "what am i called to do?" i am tired of working at any old job & trying to find fulfillment in my occupation. then the other day i read this...
"as a prisoner for the Lord, then, i urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace" (Ephesians 4: 1-3)
i then realized, it is not about what i do, but who God wants me to be. "when we are the right people before God, we can do whatever task He sends, wherever he puts us. in so doing, we discover and affirm His calling for us" (DailyBread)
it isn't easy to follow through with this... but i believe it is our true calling & in the end, what we do will fall into place.
